Somehow it’s less than a week until October 1st, and, unfortunately, the weather is still ‘ablazing. Today, the high is “I don’t even know what,” but what I do know is that it is hot! They’re saying things might cool down this week, but I’ll believe it when I see it. I really hope so!
Yesterday, I spent most of the day in bed sleeping. It wasn’t my real plan for a Saturday. I ended up sleeping late and then for some reason I needed a nap…..and then back to sleep by 9 p.m. It was honestly pretty ridiculous. I’m not sure if it’s a new medication I’m on or if I’m just that worn out? Today has been better. I haven’t accomplished much, but at least I’ve been awake today!
Last weekend I did pull out Halloween decorations and placed them around which makes me happy….even though it’s still like 95 degrees every day. I still need to get out the big pumpkin that lights up and our two 4 foot skeletons out from upstairs in the shop. Hopefully, my husband will place one of the skeletons climbing up the side of the shop. He did this last year, and it looked awesome! My brother called and was bragging that the high there in Arkansas was like 60 and that he and my SIL were sipping on pumpkin lattes….some people! 🙂
Work (school) is going well. While the beginning of the year is always challenging for all kinds of reasons, we’re in week 6 now, and things are starting to settle down. I’m pretty sure I’ve learned every one of my 140 students’ names, except for maybe just 2. I’m on it! Luckily, I have seating charts with pictures so this helps a lot. Our first major essay is in the books, and while I’m still grading these, I’m proud of how hard students worked on this overall. Now, onto the next one! Oh Freshman Comp….
Husband is still trying to fix the AC on the Civic with absolutely no luck. I’m pretty sure I’ll have to start car shopping soon which I’m so not looking forward to. I keep telling him that he’s fought a valiant battle and a much appreciated one, but I think the Civic has won at this point…..
I hope everyone is doing well. I know a hurricane is on its way to the Gulf. Please stay safe! Peace to all – b
Well, I will blame the napping on the weather! I too had mighty plans yesterday but napped continuously yesterday with intermittent periods of fluid intake and protein! Lol

Hi Sarah! Yes! Thank you! It’s the weather LOL I’m glad I’m not the only one feeling sleepy! 🙂

Speaking of myself, time seems to slip away faster the older I get and I do not like it. Maybe a Honda dealer can get the AC running again? I know hoe costly that is too. It’s in the upper 90s in Vegas today and for the next several days too. Summer is still here!

Hi John! I agree that time seems to go more quickly as I get older, too. And I don’t like it either! 🙂 Yep, we had it at a Honda dealership in early August. They replaced a couple of parts out, but that alone was pretty costly, so we didn’t have them do anything more. Normally, my husband can figure it out and fix it. He thought he had it a couple of times. My husband just wants to win this, but it’s not looking good. And at this point, it just isn’t worth the money. I mean I’d much rather not have a car payment…but….this is not working out!

Your husband sounds like he may be stubborn and never gives up! I don’t blame you for not wanting a car payment, I have been driving the same truck since 2016 and have had very little trouble with it and it’s paid for! Maybe he still will figure this out. Fingers crossed.

You are 100% right about my husband. And usually, he can fix just about anything. I think that’s definitely part of why he’s so frustrated. But again, the car is 13 yo. And the first mechanic we had it to said it could be an electric issue….which *sigh…it seems like it since we’ve replaced almost everything else! That’s so great you have your truck and no payments! Whoo hoo!

My husband is like that also with his little honda. I have the new car as I commute still to work. He watches lots of youTubes.

Hondas are pretty good, overall. What kind of Honda does your husband work on? This is a civic. It’s 13 and it’s been a great car! But I just cannot do this heat wo AC. My husband is a big fan of YouTube, also! 🙂

Wishing you cooler temperatures and some more energy. Mind you, if I lived there with that kind of heat, I don’t think I could get out of bed and face it. I respect those who can manage that feat.

Thank you! We would be happy if the temperature would hit like 85! Due to the humidity here, the heat index is almost always higher….ughs. I’ve been in Texas awhile and summers are still tough! I hope you all have weathered your storm well!

We survived the storm. Some roof damage and some tree damage but it could have been worse. Thanks for asking.

I’m glad it’s over for you all.

Belle, so happy to hear that school is going well! Sounds like we need to send you some cooler weather asap. Hopefully, that will come soon and it will feel a bit more like Halloween is on its way by then. All the best for the week ahead! 🙂

School is going well here. We have to report to our site tomorrow from 8-10 for hurricane preparations as the schools will be closed from Monday-Thursday. I am learning more about writing IEPs and working with ESOL students. It is never a dull moment.

Oh that’s great! I’m glad to hear things are going well for you. I really hope this storm isn’t all they are saying it could be. So are you working with sped students as well? Or the IEPs are for the ESOL students? I bet it’s interesting!

Separate of course…I do both. Sped and ESOL. It is complicated. Thank you!

It is but there is a shortage of teachers in Florida and the principal jumped on me as I certification in both.

I’m not a fan of the weather getting colder but I do love the fall colours and Halloween season of October!

Hi AB! I bet you can get some pretty cold weather where you are. We don’t really have seasons… well…we have hot for about 4-5 months. Then, maybe chilly…then semi spring lol I lived up north as a kid and like you, I loved the fall and the leaves changing. I still love the fall, but that kind of weather won’t be here for awhile. Hopefully, by Halloween we’ll get a decent cold front! 🎃

I’m just glad that we’ve missed out on Hurricane Ian, although I certainly feel for the people in Florida. It’s an unfortunate fact that once one of those storms gets in the Gulf, someone is going to get swacked. But, as “they” say, we may actually get a frontal passage tomorrow. By midweek, we may have lows in the upper 60s, so things should be even better for you — that ought to make everything easier!

I’m with you: glad it isn’t headed this way! Hopefully, it will weaken as it goes! I really hope we get that cool front. We all need it!

With your hot temperatures, it is understandable that you slept on Saturday. Where I live, the leaves are falling fast and the night temperatures are in the 20’s and the high today was 46 F which felt balmy. Hope the snow stays away until October!

Hi! Please send the cooler fall weather as soon as you can! Supposedly, Thursday will be 82/55 which if that actually happens, it will be the coolest it’s been here for months. We’d even take a day of 90 with no humidity right now! Hope your weekend was a good one. Take care!

How fun to get Halloween out! Sorry it’s not cool enough there for Pumpkin lattes yet but fingers crossed it’s soon! I love hearing that you are in the swing of school. 140 names – impressive! Have a great week! ❤️❤️❤️

Hi Wynne, please send a cold front this way if possible! Do you and your kids like to decorate for Halloween? 🎃 I hope you all have a great last week of September!

Yes – Halloween is one of the most fun holidays to decorate for these days! We keep gathering more and more inflatables! It’s been regularly in the 50’s at night and 70’s in the day here so I’ll send that weather your way! XOXO

Thank you for sharing!!… glad that school is doing okay, less worry there and sometimes the ole body needs to briefly stop and reboot…. I would wish for cooler and drier air for you but as crazy as the weather has been, one has to be careful what one wishes for…. so, I “hope” the weather becomes more pleasant and enjoyable…. 🙂
Until we meet again…
May your day be touched
by a bit of Irish luck,
Brightened by a song
in your heart,
And warmed by the smiles
of people you love.

Hi Dutch! I appreciate you stopping by. And, these past few days have been so wonderful! Temps are about 86 and little to no humidity. It’s been so nice.. I think the humidity is back next week and temps higher, but we will take what we can! Happy Sunday!

Hi! I think I have all of their names down now. Pretty sure lol Hoping a cold front rolls through soon. This week the humidity has been down so that’s been some relief! I hope all is well in your world. Have a great Monday!
