Newton

We had to say goodbye to a very amazing soul, Newton, on Friday. Still young at 7 years of age, this came unexpectedly. There’s never enough time with our pals, but we thought we had more.

As soon as I’m able, I will write the best tribute I can muster for our sweet Baby Boy.

Please send joyful and happy thoughts for his life well lived and for his transition to someplace better filled with his favorite snacks, toys, and adventures and in that order ❤️

While our hearts are broken, we’re forever grateful for the love, the patience, and the grace he brought to our lives.

Take care, all. And hug everyone you love. xo

  1. May I offer a gentle hug via the internet? Dogs are always family, it hurts so badly. I was 12 years young when our family lost Candy from a spinal issue. It still hurts. ❤️

  2. They say all dogs go to Heaven. That’s because they bring a little Heaven to our lives while they are here. Have a happy forever, Newton, and blessings to your people family.

  4. I’m so sorry, Belle. It is so heartbreaking to say good-bye to our precious dogs and Newton looks so sweet. Love his gold eyes and earnest expression. I hope there is some comfort in the amazing life I know you gave to him so that he crosses the rainbow bridge knowing he was so, so loved. Sending a big hug!

  5. Good Morning Belle.
    What a beautiful fur baby.
    My thoughts are with you.
I cried for two days when Jasmine died.
    Let the tears flow.
    They are healing.
Lots of love from South Africa.

  6. I’m so sorry. Two of our last dogs died suddenly as well, and that’s so difficult. And so young for Newton. RIP Newton.

  7. So sorry, Belle. There are no words that make a difficult time any easier. I hope you and your husband have many happy memories of Newton.

At the start of the pandemic, we experienced a similar thing with one of our two yellow labs (Jake). He was only 8, and the end also came amazingly quick. We still hadn’t processed it before we had to put him down. That was also when people were staying home, so we felt the loss of our dog even more.

    • Hi Pete, thank you. We have tons of great memories (and photos and videos) of Newt. He was a beautiful soul as they all seem to be.

I’m sorry about Jake. He was young, too! No matter how much time we get to share with them, it never seems like enough. I’m sure it was so much more difficult being at home 24/7. Yesterday, our first day without Newt, was hard, but we were able to go do something for a distraction.

I hope that you also can savor the happy memories you have of Jake. I believe we’re all better people because of our furry friends. ❤️ I just wish they didn’t have to leave us!

  8. Thank you for sharing!.. sorry for his passing, they become more than just pets… but you have his memories in your heart so he is not very far away… 🙂

    When I die
Give what’s left of me away
    To children
And old men that wait to die.

And if you need to cry,
    Cry for your brother
    Walking the street beside you.
    And when you need me,
    Put your arms
    Around anyone
    And give them
What you need to give to me.

I want to leave you something,
    Something better
    Than words
    Or sounds.

    Look for me
    In the people I’ve known
    Or loved,
And if you cannot give me away,
At least let me live on your eyes
    And not on your mind.

    You can love me most
    By letting
    Hands touch hands,
    By letting
    Bodies touch bodies,
    And by letting go
    Of children
    That need to be free.

    Love doesn’t die,
    People do.
So, when all that’s left of me
    Is love,
    Give me away.
    (Epitaph, Merrit Malloy)

    Until we meet again…

    May your day be touched
by a bit of Irish luck,
    Brightened by a song
    in your heart,
    And warmed by the smiles
    of people you love.
    (Irish Saying)
