What a beautiful tree!

I know! But we had to cut off the left side. Due to a really crazy wind storm, it split off and fell 😦

Wow – what a storm! I can see why you are mourning its loss of its left side.

If seen as a work of art, the images and the angle create an impressive photo bin terms of its formal qualities. Thank you.

Split by lightning?

It was already weak in the middle as a third had to be taken off 2 years ago. Then, that crazy wind storm came through like 2 weeks ago I think and snapped the left side of. We had to cut it down. My husband trimmed up the one on the right, but I’m sure it won’t last too long because of the damage. It’s sad to lose it; it was a wonderful shade tree for that side of the house.

It looks like wood rot took the tree out, sad. ☹️

This tree has been through some things for sure! It was damaged 2 years ago with a crazy rain and wind storm that went through. We’re pretty sure it was hit by lightening where it’s rotted now. At the time, we were able to save about 60% of the tree knowing though that it would come to this. We were just hoping later than sooner as it’s been a wonderful shade tree for that side of the house along with habitat for the birds that come around.

Sorry about this, it takes a bit of value away from one’s home. ☹️

Are the holes deep enough for an animal to live in?

I know it’s part of the circle of life, but dang, it just hurts my heart.

Beautiful tree! Very sorry about the wind storm. Our neighbours tree fell victim to one last Spring too.

Last windstorm we had a couple of weeks ago, a giant evergreen at one of our nearby intersections just toppled over. These things happen, and I guess in our instance it will likely have now made room for another to be planted. The circle of life!

Oh wow! I bet it was a huge tree! You’re right about it being part of life and how things work. We are happy because there are several seedlings that were in this area and hopefully, now with more sun, they’ll grow nicely!

A tree providing protection for a lost love one. ❤️

Thank you for sharing!.. no need to mourn the tree because it is still there, furnishing home for many creatures and giving shade, perhaps furnishing seed for new generations.. the older we get while dealing with life’s storms, we change and may not be as beautiful as in the beginning but still filled with life and love… 🙂
Hope all is well in your part of the universe and until we meet again..
May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life’s passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!

We recently had to have three birch trees taken down, 2 were dead, 1 was hanging on by a thread. I’ve been in mourning ever since.

Ugh, sorry Ally. I’m thankful for those trees that shaded us for 20+ years but so sad to say goodbye.
